2nd Turra Scout Registration Info - Trek 1, 2024 has ended
Published Mon 08 Jul 2024
Dear all This is a reminder that Trek 1 (which covered terms 1 and 2) has now come to an end. Registration for Trek 2 Registration for Trek 2 opens on 15 July which falls during the school holidays. You will be sent an email on 15 July containing important information about how to register for Trek 2. Those families that are eligible for sibling/leader/committee member discounts will be sent a unique code on the 15 July via email. Registrations must be completed before attendance at any scouting activity after school holidays so please support our committee and leaders by registering and paying promptly. Equally, please let us know if your child is unable to return next term so we know who not to chase. Important update regarding the registration fee The registration fee is a combined payment of two fees: the Scouts NSW’s fee (the State fee) and the Second Turramurra Group fee (the Group fee). On Friday 5th July Scouts NSW informed us that the State fee for Trek 2 would now be charged to cover a longer period: July 2024 - April 2025 (terms 3 & 4 of 2024 and 1 of 2025) instead of the originally planned period of July – December 2024 (terms 3 & 4). Although the annual state membership fee of $280 will remain the same, for Trek 2 they will charge for 3 terms rather than 2 ($210 rather than $140). We appreciate this news is unexpected and comes at very short notice. The 2T Committee and our Group Leader will be writing to Scouts NSW to express our frustration about this last-minute change as well as seeking further information and clarification to help us answer potential questions around the payment plans, future refunds, etc. To keep our registration fees simple for the short term, the 2nd Turramurra Group fee will remain as planned and cover terms 3 and 4 (July –December 2024) and be the same amount as Trek 1. We hope that before January 2025, we shall have a clearer picture of Scouts NSW’s long-term fee's structure so that we can decide how best to charge the Group fee for 2025. We need your help! Our Scouting Group is run entirely by volunteers, most of whom are parents of current youth members. For the Group to continue to provide our children with the wonderful program of activities that we do, we need your help. Leaders are required across all units (Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers). Training and support are available and, as a bonus, the first two registered children of Leaders pay no Group fees (with any subsequent child’s fees discounted). If you would like to find out more about becoming a Leader, please reach out to any of our current Leaders who would be happy to chat about what is involved. Alternatively, you can support the Group by way of joining the committee. The roles below are current vacant and are being picked up by existing committee members:
If you are interested in becoming either a Leader or joining the committee, please let us know before registering for Trek 2 so that we can discount your child’s Group fee. Bring a Friend If you have any family or friends that are interested in becoming a youth member, please let them know that they can have 4 FREE trial sessions. They will need to register as a Trial member before attending and can do so using this link: Registration - Scouts NSW - 2nd Turramurra Scout Group and clicking on New Member at the bottom right-hand side of the page. Please visit our website www.turrascouts.com for information about Term Programs, Major Events, Badgework reports and much more. You can contact our Membership Officer (ABOUT-COMMITTEE) with any queries. Enjoy the upcoming holidays and we look forward to seeing you after school holidays! Sincerely 2nd Turramurra Leaders & Committee
